Gengateway is a very interesting genealogy website with many free resources. There is an array of information to be researched on this sight.Just a few examples include: The Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography, The history of Detroit and Michigan, Fredericksbury, Virginia, The History of and Students of the University of Virginia. There are many, many more to check out!
There are several free site searches that will keep you busy for hours. I find that many times some tidbit of information just from reading history will answer questions to my own genealogy questions and problems especially when trying to understand the different era's.
